RCSI LOCAL AMSI COMMITTEE (2025-2026)

President - AMSI RCSI

Sharaf El Khatib

I am a fourth-year medical student at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland with a passion for advocacy, peer support, and fostering global healthcare innovation. I’m driven to create opportunities that help medical students grow, collaborate, and connect beyond borders. My dedication to global health has been shaped by volunteering with Hospitalité Notre-Dame de Lourdes during the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage, caring for dependent pilgrims, and with Make-A-Wish Ireland, running Teddy Bear Hospital workshops for schoolchildren. These experiences strengthened my belief in empathy and human connection as the foundation of compassionate care and inspired my humanitarian approach to medicine. At RCSI, I serve as Vice Chair of the Radiology Society and as a USMLE peer mentor, organising academic and career events, teaching ultrasound, representing RCSI in national competitions, and guiding peers through their medical journeys. Outside of medicine, I’m the co-founder and vice-captain of the RCSI Men’s Varsity Futsal Club, competing in Ireland’s Division One AUL Futsal League. Futsal has been central to my university life, teaching me teamwork, discipline, and resilience — qualities I carry into every aspect of my medical and personal development.

RCSI will start recruitment for its local AMSI committee soon. Please email us if you are interested in being a part of RCSI’s AMSI chapter
