Co-President - AMSI UU

Ella Carolan

I am currently a second-year postgraduate medical student in UU with a strong interest in global health, medical education, and sports medicine. I hold a MSc in Biomedical, Health and Life Sciences from UCD where I received an entrance scholarship award. My interest in global health was solidified during my medical elective in Tanzania over the summer which provided an invaluable perspective on health inequity and strengthened my passion for cultural exchange. I am an engaged member of several student organisations at Ulster University and am currently involved in delivering a medical education program for first year medical students as part of a peer learning initiative. Beyond academics I enjoy sport though both GAA and basketball, having represented Monaghan Senior Ladies in the past and winning 2 All Ireland basketball medals. I also enjoy reading, hiking and travelling. As Co-President of the AMSI UU Chapter, I’m excited to introduce AMSI to UU and connect students across Ireland and Northern Ireland through advocacy, education and global collaboration!

Co-President - AMSI UU

ARYAN SINGH

I am currently a second-year medical student at Ulster University, originally from Melbourne, Australia. I hold a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Monash University, where I also worked as a peer mentor for first-year biomedical students, running teaching sessions and support groups to support their transition into university life. My main interests lie in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, medical education, and global health policy. I am particularly passionate about combining clinical practice with teaching and leadership to help shape future generations of medical professionals. At Ulster, I currently serve as Secretary of the Surgical Society and Second-Year Representative for the Medical Society, where I enjoy helping to strengthen student engagement and collaboration. Outside of medicine, I have a strong passion for exercise and fitness and have played football for many years. I also work as an academic tutor, a role I’ve held for over six years, which continues to fuel my love for teaching and supporting students in achieving their goals. I am excited to continue developing my skills and interests throughout medical school and beyond, with a focus on advocacy, education, and excellence in patient care. As part of AMSI UU, I am excited to contribute to connecting Ulster University with the wider AMSI network across Ireland and Northern Ireland. I look forward to promoting opportunities for advocacy, education, and global collaboration while fostering a supportive and inclusive community for medical students.
